No projector we sell is bright enough for daylight from close in. A 0.5 throw projector tops out at about 4,200 lumens. Mount farther back for a 5,000+ lumen model, or add shades and choose Some light.

How the spec score and tiers work

THF spec score. It rates the hardware only and does not include price, so a lower score can still be the better buy for your room. Brightness 40 percent, resolution 20 percent, golf setup features (golf picture mode, automatic screen fit) 15 percent, placement flexibility (zoom, lens shift) 10 percent, laser light source 10 percent and input lag 5 percent, then scaled so the top model (BenQ AK900ST) is 100.

Tiers. Par is the solid pick that gets the sim playing. Birdie is the step up most sims choose. Eagle is the top spec we carry.

Notes. Brightness is the manufacturer rating (BenQ ANSI lumens, Optoma ISO lumens; close but not identical). Mount distance is lens to screen for the Fairway size you pick. Brightness guide: 3,000 lumens for a dark room, 4,000+ with some light, 5,000+ for daylight. Aspect ratio and image size are covered in our projector guide. Prices and specifications as of November 2026.
