Compare the Four Sizes: Retractable Golf Simulator Screens

Every Home Fairway System is a complete hitting bay: a rear 3-ply impact screen, two motorized 8 ft side screens, and one RF remote that works through walls. Here is how the four sizes compare, what comes in the box, and how to pick the right one for your room.

Compare the four sizes

Wall figures are outside bracket to outside bracket. A screen assembly is always wider than the screen, so allow roughly 4 in beyond the nominal size. Need a width between these, or wider than 14 ft? We quote custom.

Both side screens are included. That is the whole point.

Side screens are what separate a hitting bay from a screen hanging on a wall. Real golf is not straight, and a pushed shot at 120 mph goes past the edge of the screen into whatever is behind it, which in a garage is usually drywall, a water heater, or a car.

They are also the most common hidden upcharge in this category. Systems get advertised at a headline price, and the side screens turn out to be an add-on, or motorizing them costs extra, or they are not offered at all. Every Home Fairway size includes two motorized 8 ft side screens in the base price, on the same remote as the main screen. When you compare us to anything else, check whether the side screens are in the number.

What comes in the box

Leaving out the launch monitor, projector and mat is deliberate. Those are the parts golfers already own or have strong opinions about, and bundling them is how a screen system ends up costing twice as much. Bring the ones you want.

Which size do you need? Three questions.

1. How wide is the wall? Measure at the height the brackets will sit, not at the floor. Baseboards and trim will lie to you. Pick the largest size that leaves you a few inches of clearance. If your wall is exactly 12 ft, the Fairway 10 is your size, not the 12.

2. What is the lowest thing over the hitting spot? In a garage this is almost never the ceiling. It is the garage door track, which usually hangs 7 to 8 ft off the floor. Measure to the underside of that. Most golfers want around 9 ft of clearance for a full driver swing and many manage at 8 ft 6 in.

3. Does anyone in the house swing the other way? If a right-handed and a left-handed golfer will share the bay, size up. A 12 ft bay handles it comfortably and a 14 ft bay handles it easily. An 8 ft bay works, but expect to slide the mat every time.

Common questions

Can I still park in the garage?
Yes. That is the entire reason these exist. The screens roll into compact ceiling housings when you are done, so the bay comes down to play and goes back up when the car comes home. A fixed enclosure occupies its footprint 365 days a year.

How long does it take to deploy?
Under a minute, one button, all three screens.

Do you install it?
No, and we are upfront about that. It ships ready to mount and most owners handle it themselves or with a handyman. Brackets are 3 in by 5 in and must land on studs or joists, or on rated heavy-duty toggle bolts. Never drywall alone.

Will it work with my launch monitor?
Any of them. This is the screen system, not a closed platform.

What if my room falls between sizes?
